Hot days and high temperatures begin to be present in the city. Therefore, prevention is an excellent recommendation to avoid the consequences of leaving the car in full sun, which can be done with a Car cover (ร่มคลุมรถ, which is the term in Thai).

• The sun visor minimizes the consequences of heat and sun on our body and in the car.
• The sunshade’s use reduces the damage caused by the sun inside the vehicle by up to 40 percent.  
• If it is not possible to park the car in the shade, it is advisable to resort to a sunshade.

Parking the car in the shade would be the most convenient since we would avoid overexertion of the air conditioning and, at the same time, the least deterioration of the interior plastics. If it is not possible to park in the shade, we can resort to a parasol. This element minimizes the consequences of heat and sun, so it is beneficial for our vehicles and our health.

A study revealed that exposing a car to the sun considerably increases the temperature inside the vehicle. In the research, a car was exposed to an outside temperature of 25ºC and to radiation levels equivalent to those we would have at this time for 60 minutes. First, it was made without any protection for the car. The result was quite dramatic: the windshield reached temperatures of up to 77ºC, enough to cause burns, while the interior was an average of 43ºC.

The function of a Car Sun Visor

The sun visor’s function is simple, and it allows the sun’s rays to bounce off and not hit the vehicle directly.

Later a car with a sun visor was put in the same conditions. After an hour, it was found that the windshield temperature reached 38ºC, practically half of what was registered without the protection. The average temperature of the interior was at 32ºC, a value that is 11ºC below the previous attempt and that is much more assimilable for humans. A check was also made with the windows closed and then with an opening of three centimeters, with hardly any differences.

In this sense, the sun visor’s function is simple: it allows the sun’s rays to bounce off and not directly impact the vehicle. Its use reduces up to 40 percent of the damage caused by the sun inside the car, both upholstery, and plastic elements. At the same time, it reduces the feeling of fatigue caused by excess heat.

On the other hand, the vehicle provides better ventilation if the Car umbrella (ร่มรถ, which is the term in Thai) is used. As there is less temperature, less air conditioning will be needed to acclimatize the cabin properly.
